Void Revenant’s "Celestial Procession": A Cosmic Death Metal Inferno That’ll Haunt Your Eardrums (And Your Nightmares)

Ever wondered what it’d sound like if H.P. Lovecraft cranked a distortion pedal? Enter Void Revenant, Ireland’s latest export in the "cosmic death metal" arena, dropping their three-track EP Celestial Procession like a black hole of sound. These lads aren’t just riffing—they’re summoning eldritch horrors from the void. Think Immolation meets Blood Incantation at a Dublin pub… if said pub were orbiting a collapsing star.

Recorded at Last Light Recordings with Shaun Cadogan—the guy behind Abbadon Incarnate’s aural carnage—this EP is a sonic gut-punch. Crushing? Oh yeah. Dissonant? You bet. But it’s also weirdly hypnotic, like staring into the Eye of Sauron while headbanging. Colin Marston (of Gorguts fame) then masterfully polished this beast, ensuring it’s heavy enough to crack tectonic plates.

Thematically, Celestial Procession doesn’t just flirt with cosmic dread—it marries it. Tracks like "The Obelisk" and "By The Abyss" weave tales of humanity’s insignificance with riffs that could level cities. “Resistance is futile,” the guitars seem to snarl, while Kevin O’Connor’s vocals sound like Cthulhu clearing his throat.

The lineup? A who’s-who of Ireland’s underground: ex-Dichotomy bassist Neil Coburn, Dead Aeon alum Evan McGuigan on drums, and guitarists Richard Farrell and Andrew Smyth, who clearly took "play it like the world’s ending" as a challenge.

Look, I’ve heard a lot of metal in my day, but Celestial Procession? It’s the aural equivalent of getting sucked into a wormhole—terrifying, exhilarating, and utterly addictive. These tracks don’t just bang; they haunt.
