Catalysis Roars Back: “The Only Way Out Is Through” Drops April 2025

Guess who’s back, louder than a stack of Marshall amps? Scotland’s riff-slingers Catalysis are tearing through the noise with their fifth EP, “The Only Way Out Is Through” (April 18, 2025). Talk about a phoenix move—after 2024’s lineup shuffle left fans sweating, founding duo Calum Rennie (drums) and Drew Cochrane (guitar) rebuilt the squad like metal MacGyvers. Enter Jamie Paterson (guitar), Robi Islam (bass), and Andrew Downie (vocals), a fresh-blood posse that dropped “Lazarus” last November. Spoiler: It slaps.

“This EP? It’s the beast we’ve been feeding behind closed doors—blood, sweat, and enough coffee to power Edinburgh,” the band grins. “We didn’t just dig into our influences; we mined ’em like a gold rush. It’s 100% Catalysis DNA, but with a spark that could light a bonfire.” Collaboratively written, the five-track monster stitches melody, groove, and riffs sharper than a claymore. Co-produced by Cochrane and Mark Tindal (Open Eyes Production), it’s all live-wire energy—zero studio fluff, just “plug in and riot” vibes.

Artwork duty? Mark Cruncher returns, because why fix what ain’t broken? His visuals for Betrayer were already face-melters.

Mark your calendars: The EP drops alongside their Dundee Metal Fest gig (April 19)—a hometown rager that’ll double as their launch party. Later dates? Oh, just casual stops in Brussels, Manchester, and beyond.
Watch the title track’s video (trust us, it’s a headbanger’s buffet):

Upcoming Shows:
- 26/04/25: Edinburgh’s M2TM Final – Guest headliners, no pressure
- 03/05/25: Anivinium Fest, Brussels – Waffles + metal? Yes.
…and more chaos through November.

FFO: Machine Head’s grit, Chimaira’s rage, Sylosis’ tech-wizardry, Trivium’s hooks—aka “the holy quad of metal.”

Personal Take: Catalysis isn’t just surviving; they’re thriving. Lineup changes? Pfft. These Scots treat chaos like fuel. Catch them live before they blow the roof—literally.
