SITH'ARI – Before The Dawn: Midwest Black Metal That Actually Cuts Deep
https://ethanolstudio.bandcamp.com/album/before-the-dawn-2
Alright, metalheads, time to stop doomscrolling and pay attention. SITH’ARI just dropped their debut EP Before The Dawn, and it absolutely rips. Released May 30 on CD via Ethanol Studio, this thing is frostbitten fury bottled and lit on fire. Think Immortal lost in an Iowa blizzard while Bathory chants from the treeline.
Formed by Lord Kafir (Nedakh) and Pathos (Symphony of Heaven), the duo crafts a sound that’s old-school yet razor-sharp. No gimmicks. Just riffs, machine drums, and venom-soaked atmospheres that’ll make your spine curl. The process? Kafir lays down grim skeletons, Pathos smashes the skins with surgical precision. The result? Melodic black metal with soul. And a knife in its teeth.
And yeah, it’s got vibe. Not the poser "corpse paint at the mall" kinda vibe, more like you’re trudging through a mythic war-torn tundra while the gods argue in the sky. Metal Temple wasn’t kidding when they said this one “leaves you craving more.” It’s 5 tracks, 30 mins, and somehow manages to feel both icy and uplifting. Like hope crawling out from under a frozen grave.
Highlights? "Before the Dawn" slaps. "The Descent" tears. And "As the Light Fades" is straight-up cinematic. It’s got that Scandinavian bite, but with heartland grit. Like if Gorgoroth went camping in the Midwest and came back spiritually enlightened (but still real pissed).
This ain’t black metal for algorithms. This is for real ones, cold hearts, hot ears, and the kind of souls that mosh alone in the woods. Stream it, spin it, blast it at 2AM while contemplating the void. Just don’t miss out, CDs are limited, and regret’s a harsh mistress.
