New England has a metal legacy, and Death Rattle are here to keep it alive. This four-piece groove metal crew is not messing around. With two independent albums under their belt, multiple US tours, and even some time overseas supporting heavy hitters like Cattle Decapitation and Revocation , they’ve been making waves for a while now.
Now, in 2025, they’re back with something fresh and heavy: The Moral Chokehold , out this summer via M-Theory Audio . The new single “Malthusian Dependency” gives you a taste of what’s coming and trust me, it’s no joke.
Slower, heavier, and doomier than their usual style, the track shows another side of the band. It’s raw, it’s deep, and it hits like a freight train. The video, shot by Jonas Em of EmVision Productions , adds just the right amount of edge to match the mood.
As the band explains:
“‘Malthusian Dependency’ was one of those songs that just came together naturally. Ryan and Chris were jamming in the studio, and we all felt it had something special. It’s got groove, thrash, melody: it’s everything we love.”
This follows the first single “Immersed in Black” , which already set the tone for an album full of fire and fury. If you dig Hatebreed , Obituary , or Philip H. Anselmo , this one’s for you.
DEATH RATTLE line-up:
Trey Holton – Vocals
Ryan Vanderwolk – Guitar
Justin Brown – Bass
Chris Morin – Drums
Follow them:
Honestly, I respect bands who don’t just follow trends, they create them. Death Rattle bring heart, sweat, and real energy to every note. They’re not just playing music; they’re telling stories with riffs and rhythm.
So crank up “Malthusian Dependency” , feel the weight, and remember: this is more than metal. It’s a statement.
