COLOSALIST - "Two Suns"

What's New: COLOSALIST

Two Suns: When Doom Gets a Little Less Dismal

So. Colosalist’s debut album was released on September 9th, and honestly? It’s not the kind of doom metal that screams “I’m here to break your neck.” No, this is something quieter, colder, like snow falling on a forgotten altar.

Based in Prague but with roots stretching from Norway to Finland (and vibes somewhere between the two), Colosalist’s Two Suns feels less like a manifesto and more like a whispered confession. Recorded with Aksu Hanttu in those hushed Finnish studios Petrax and Wave Sound, this isn’t some over-polished machine. There’s a breath in it. A tremor. You can almost hear the frost forming on the mic.

Musically? Think My Dying Bride on a long walk through a Nordic forest after midnight. Swallow the Sun’s melancholy, Primordial’s mythic weight but without the chest-thumping theatrics. The riffs are slow, yes, but they’re also thoughtful. They don’t just crush; they linger. The lyrics? Not about fire and fury. Nah. This is about duality: the light and the shadow, the suns that never quite align. Nature as both sanctuary and tomb.

The lead single, Die Inside Me, comes with a lyric video that’s all fog, flickering flames, and someone staring into the void like they’ve seen their own funeral. Perfect. It’s cinematic without being pretentious. Emotional without drowning in self-pity.

If you’re tired of doom metal that sounds like a demolition derby, try this instead. Let it sit in your ears like cold water on a fevered brow.
