Sweden’s Doom Secret Weapon Dropped in 2023... And You Might’ve Missed It

Let’s rewind. October 27, 2023. While the world was busy doomscrolling, Doomherre, three grizzled Swedes who’ve paid their dues in bands like Lobotomy and Eyekon, quietly unleashed Bonegoat, their debut full-length. No hype. No label circus. Just pure, uncut, Sabbath-worshipping doom, pressed to wax and CD via their own DIY imprint, Skatbo Records.
And holy hell, it’s good.
“Bonegoat”, the track, the title, the concept, is a slow-burning sermon about the ultimate corruptor: “the Jim Jones, the Manson, the tycoon.” It’s not just riffs. It’s atmosphere. It’s dread. Wikimetal called it “deliciously old school, dark, and mysterious.” KeepItRock said it’s like “today’s Metallica meets ’70s Sabbath.” Honestly? They’re both right. Think The Obsessed with more swagger, or Candlemass if they drank more whiskey and less mead.
But don’t mistake “doom” for “sleepy.” Tracks like “Breaking the Seal” and “Circle of Blood” kick up the tempo without losing that crushing weight. These guys know when to drag you through tar and when to shove you off a cliff.
Since Bonegoat, they’ve dropped singles like “Eraser,” “Stormfather,” and “This Burning Guilt”, each one deeper, darker, more refined. Proof this isn’t a one-off passion project. It’s a goddamn movement.
Yeah, Sweden Rock Magazine noticed. You should too.
If you like your metal slow, heavy, and soaked in shadow, with zero Instagram-core nonsense, Doomherre’s is for you.
