Alright, brace yourselves. Enemy Awake, yeah, that’s Ivan C. doing basically everything, is dropping a new single called “My Hell is Yours” on October 10th. No label, no safety net, just pure Swedish death metal grit, self-released and unapologetic. Consider this your first warning shot before the full EP hits.
The track? It’s exactly what the title suggests: a guided tour through someone else’s personal damnation. Think chainsaw riffs soaked in Stockholm fog, vocals that sound like they’re gargling broken glass, but with this eerie, blackened undercurrent creeping in, like Dissection decided to jam with early Entombed after a really bad night. Classic Swedeath DNA, sure, but twisted just enough to feel fresh, not reheated.
Ivan C. isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel here and thank fuck for that. What he’s doing is reminding us why Swedish death metal still hits like a sledgehammer to the sternum. There’s craft in the carnage. Atmosphere in the aggression. And that black metal whisper? It’s not decoration. It’s the shadow that makes the flame burn brighter.
Is it the second coming of Left Hand Path? Nah. But it doesn’t need to be. “My Hell is Yours” feels like the work of someone who genuinely loves this shit, who’s studied the scriptures (Dismember, Unleashed, maybe a little Necrophobic) and now wants to scribble his own damn psalms in the margins.
Keep an eye on this one. If the EP delivers even half as hard as this single promises, Enemy Awake might just become your new favorite underground obsession.
