Galundo Tenvulance - "Insomnis Somnia": The Japanese Melodeath Machine Strikes again.

Four days in, and Galundo Tenvulance’s Insomnis Somnia is already carving its name into 2025’s metal landscape. Out now via Spiritual Beast, this third full-length is the sound of a band refusing to coast: melodic yet merciless, orchestral but never overblown.
New vocalist SAO steps into the spotlight, replacing Chiaki with a roar that’s raw but controlled, perfectly suited to the band’s blend of Amorphis’ melodic sorrow and Mors Principium Est’s surgical riffing. Mixed by Saku Moilanen (Wolfheart, Before The Dawn), the production cuts through the clutter: every synth swell, every blastbeat, every harmonized lead serves the song. And with artwork by Rib:y(uhki), the aesthetic matches the music: dark, sleek, and unapologetic.
The real win? The hooks. Tracks like "The Skylight Above Us" and "Sweet Suffering" prove these guys write anthems, not just riffs: songs that stick long after the last note fades. It’s the work of a band who’ve earned their stripes (from 2020’s Genesis to 2023’s Lunar Eclipture) and now sound leaner, meaner, and more confident.
In a genre drowning in overproduced clones, Insomnis Somnia stands out by doing the basics brilliantly. Sometimes, that’s all you need.
