KÜNTSQUÄD: Melbourne’s Extreme Metal Misfits Sharpen Their Blades on Satan’s Cøck
Melbourne’s KÜNTSQUÄD don’t do things by halves. Their new album, Satan’s Cøck, is a 30-minute sonic bludgeoning that fuses crust punk’s raw fury with death metal’s guttural precision, all wrapped in a blackened sneer. And now, they’re splattered across the cover of HEAVY Magazine, because of course they are.
The band’s 2022 self-titled debut was a statement of intent: unapologetic, unrelenting, and uncompromising. But Satan’s Cøck isn’t just more of the same: it’s sharper, meaner, and more focused. Frontwoman Paula VC Damnzal admits they took a step back to refine their approach: “This time, we wanted it more direct. Not everyone got it before, so we made sure they would this time.” Guitarist Nikronomicon Satanik adds, “Heavier, tighter, but still us, no genre walls, just total extremity.” And extremity is what you get.
The album’s already making waves, topping Sentinel Daily’s Top 30 Chart with a review that calls it “another half-hour of sonic unpleasantness… even more extreme this time around.” High praise, considering the competition. Tracks like “Psychotropic Lyfe”, now rubbing shoulders with Deicide and God Dethroned on Imperative Music Compilation Vol. 18, prove they’re not just noise; there’s a method to the madness.
Live, KÜNTSQUÄD are a force of nature, and they’re taking this record on the road, starting with dates in Perth and Melbourne. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when crust, death, and black metal collide in a sweaty, chaotic mess, now’s your chance to find out.
Satan’s Cøck is out now via Wormholedeath Records. Dive into the chaos below, and maybe grab some earplugs first.
