AITTALA are back with their second EP of 2025, Ill-Gotten Gains, and they're not here to play nice. The Dutch-turned-US duo, Eric Aittala (guitar/vocals) and Gary "Zeus" Smith (drums), have spent decades dodging genre pigeonholes, and this five-track beast is no exception. Think doom's crushing weight, prog's sneaky time shifts, and a groove that hits harder than a guilty conscience.

ISOLATION: A DESCENT INTO REGRET

The lead single, Isolation, doesn't just drop: it descends. The new video matches the track's oppressive vibe: a slow-motion spiral into regret, wrapped in riffs that feel like they're dragging you down by the ankles. Lyrically, it's a reckoning with choices you can't unmake, a theme that haunts the entire EP.

And yes, that's Frank the pentagram pig on the cover,
your shady spiritual guide to questionable life decisions.
Ill-Gotten Gains isn't just heavy, it's heavy with meaning. Aittala and Zeus trade in chaos, exploitation, and the messy search for redemption, all while bouncing between doom's crawl, prog's precision, and classic metal's punch. It's the sound of a band who've seen enough to know that "ill-gotten" doesn't always mean "easy."

The EP's 20 minutes feel like a confession booth with the volume cranked to 11. AITTALA don't need a full band to make a full impact. Ill-Gotten Gains is proof that metal's most compelling stories are often the ones that cut closest to the bone.

⚠️ WARNING: This EP contains crushing doom riffs, prog time signatures, and existential guilt. May induce involuntary headbanging, moral introspection, and sudden urges to confront your past mistakes.
