Papy Jeff Metal's Favorite of the Day: WODOS
Quebec's Thrash Revivalists Are Here to Crack Your Skull (Gently)
When WODOS stormed out of Lévis, Quebec in early 2024, they didn't just form a band: they dug up a time capsule. Justin Caron's drums and Benji Thériault's snarling vocals set the tone: this was thrash as it should sound, raw and unapologetic. After a few lineup shuffles, Mikee Blanchet (guitar) and Charles Fortin (bass) locked in, and suddenly, the mid-'80s to mid-'90s: thrash blueprint Slayer's chaos, Sadus' precision, Dark Angel's menace had a new set of torchbearers.
No producers. No polish. Just a live demo recorded in February 2025, pressed onto cassettes and CDrs like it's 1986. The reviews? Overwhelmingly positive, because in a world of overproduced metal, WODOS' DIY ethos isn't just refreshing, it's necessary.
Their first show, a local bash on February 7th, 2025, was just the warm-up. Eight months later, WODOS have turned Quebec and Ontario into their personal mosh pit. Loud enough to land them slots with Chris Holmes (yes, that W.A.S.P. legend) and Quebec thrash icons Soothsayer.
WODOS aren't chasing fame. They're chasing vibes. The kind that make you dust off your battle vest and remember why you fell in love with thrash in the first place. Their live shows aren't just gigs: they're a reminder that metal's underground heart still beats, even if it's buried under a pile of modern gimmicks.
CONCLUSION:
WODOS aren't just another thrash revival band, they're a full-throttle resurrection of everything that made '80s thrash vital. With their DIY cassette demos and raw live energy, they prove that real metal doesn't need polish, just passion.
