WitcheR’s “Szélhozó”: When Black Metal Summons the Storm

Hungarian duo WitcheR isn’t just playing with fire: they’re stoking the winds of the damned. Their new single, “Szélhozó”, is the second spell cast from their forthcoming fourth album, “Öröklét”, and it’s a chilling reminder of why atmospheric black metal still feels like a ritual, not just a genre.
Following the spectral footsteps of “Örökség”, this track weaves the cold grandeur of early Dimmu Borgir with the misty, epic sweep of Summoning. But WitcheR isn’t just borrowing from the greats: they’re conjuring their own mythos. “Szélhozó” tells of wind-bringing witches, those forgotten sorceresses who bent the elements to their will. It’s less a song than a summoning: the guitars howl like a gale, the synths shimmer like frost on a gravestone, and the vocals? Pure incantation.
The video doubles down on the lore, expanding the eerie narrative started with “Örökség”. Think shadowy figures dancing on the edge of eternity, shaping the world with a whisper and a curse. It’s the kind of storytelling that makes you wonder if the band sold their souls for this kind of atmosphere or just spent too many nights in the Carpathian woods.
“Öröklét” drops November 4th, CD and cassette via Filosofem Records, vinyl through Beveria Productions. If “Szélhozó” is any indication, this album won’t just be another release; it’ll be a haunting. And honestly? We’re already checking our windows for drafts.
