SELF-TITLED HORROR: WHERE BLACK MEETS DEATH IN A BLOOD-SOAKED VORTEX

Italy’s Antiquus Infestus isn’t just a band: it’s a cursed ritual, a collision of black and death metal that’s been festered in the shadows since 2011. Founded by Sverkel and Malphas as a long-distance descent into darkness, this project has always thrived on atmosphere, narrative, and sheer, unrelenting intensity. And now, with their self-titled monstrosity (out October 31, 2025 via Darkside Records), Malphas has seized full control, guitars, vocals, drum machine, production... crafting a 40-minute nightmare that merges dissonant aggression with haunting melodies, all while drowning in themes of faith, decay, and historical horror.

The album’s cover art, painted by Maxime Taccardi (The Priest of Terror) with his own blood, is a grotesque masterpiece. Increase Mather, the puritan clergyman who fueled the Salem witch trials, stands as the rotten core of fanaticism, his soul vomiting a vortex of the accused and the damned. The hangman’s silhouette looms, infecting consciences, because history’s horrors never truly fade, they just wear new masks.

With Beleth (guitar) and Pontius (drums) now in the fold, Antiquus Infestus has evolved from a duo to a full, breathing beast. This isn’t just an album: it’s a seance, a sonic exorcism of mass hysteria, ignorance, and the rot beneath religion’s skin.

"Antiquus Infestus" is blackened death metal at its most visceral and cerebral. Press play, light a candle, and pray for mercy.

In conclusion, Antiquus Infestus delivers a deeply atmospheric and conceptually powerful album. Their self-titled release is a visceral exploration of historical horror and religious fanaticism, wrapped in a sound that is both brutal and haunting. It stands as a significant piece of extreme metal artistry.
