Fallstaf - Ode To The Dead: Montreal's Brass Metal Misfits Return with Blood, Brass, and a Coffin-Shaped USB

Montreal's FALLSTAF are back and they're still the only metal band who'll show up to your funeral in a suit, tie, and trombone.
Their new single, "Bastard Son", is a thrash-fueled warning from a hitman dad to his kid: "Don't follow in my footsteps." Too late, pops, the riffs are already loaded.
Originally written years ago, the track got a second life with Simm's galloping guitars, gang vocals, and a chorus that hits like a bar brawl. "We wanted a more thrash vibe," they say. Mission fucking accomplished.
It's the second taste of "Ode To The Dead" (out November 14th), their first album since 2011's Bastard Son of a Pure Breed and a comeback forged in survival.
Frontman Iann's near-fatal accident in 2016 and a decade-long hiatus left scars. But Ode To The Dead isn't just therapy, it's groove, prog, hardcore, and sludge, all tangled up in stories of death, memory, and Montreal's criminal underbelly.
- "Sunless Friday" recounts Iann's crash
- "Kings of the West Side" is a gritty love letter to the city's shadows
- "The Burden" is a gut-punch about cancer and loss
"People think we're a ska band until we hit that first chord," they smirk. "Then they know." With a robotic leg, a masked trombonist, and suits sharper than their riffs, FALLSTAF defy every expectation: except one: they still rip.
And yes, there's a coffin-shaped USB with bonus content, because why the hell not?

CONCLUSION:
Fallstaf's Ode To The Dead is a triumphant return that proves brass and metal can coexist in perfect harmony. With their unique blend of thrash, groove, and theatrical flair, this Montreal band delivers an album that's as original as it is powerful. The coffin-shaped USB is just the icing on the cake of what is sure to be one of the most memorable metal releases of the year.
