Germany’s black metal legends ASARU are back from the abyss after more than a decade, and their new album V.O.I.D. (out January 23, 2026 via Schwarzdorn Production) is a goddamn reminder of why they’ve lasted 30 years. Founded in 1995 by Frank Nordmann, these pioneers of Southern Hesse’s black metal scene never gave a shit about trends: just pure, uncompromising darkness, rooted in the Norwegian tradition but always carving their own path. No frills. No bullshit. Just raw, epic, and absolutely authentic black metal.

Fondé en 1995 par Frank Nordmann, ces pionniers de la scène black metal de la Hesse du Sud n’ont jamais eu d’importance pour les tendances : juste une obscurité pure et inflexible, ancrée dans la tradition norvégienne mais se frayant toujours leur propre chemin. Pas de fioritures. Pas de conneries. Juste du black metal brut, épique et absolument authentique.

"Raise the Flame" is the first taste, a hymn to fire, the element that gives life and burns it all down. The video? A glimpse into the album’s thematic core: earth, air, water, fire, and the eternal cycle of humanity’s downfall. And if that doesn’t get your blood cold, the rest of the tracklist ("The Divine Beauty of Blood," "As Man Created God," "The Fiery Grave") sure as hell will. This isn’t just an album, it’s a ritual, a return to the essence of what made black metal dangerous in the first place.
