Nearly ten years. That's how long Paintrail, the shadowy duo of Luca Delle Fave (Seventh Dimension) and Hadid Rehman, sat on these songs. Written in 2016, forgotten, then finally dragged into the light. And thank fuck for that, because Nocturnals, out now via Corrupted Records, isn't just music. It's a goddamn seance.

Près de dix ans. C’est le temps que le duo sombre de Luca Delle Fave (Seventh Dimension) et Hadid Rehman a laissé ces morceaux dans l’ombre. Écrits en 2016, oubliés, puis enfin exhumés. Et putain, grâce soit rendue à ce miracle car "Nocturnals", sorti chez Corrupted Records, n’est pas juste de la musique. C’est une putain d’invocation.

This isn't your typical instrumental fluff. No, Nocturnals is a semi-acoustic horror story with groove, a twisted lovechild of Opeth's weirdest moments, Steven Wilson's atmospheric creep, and Storm Corrosion's eerie beauty. Acoustic guitars weave through driving drums and deep, rumbling bass, while keys drizzle this unsettling, almost hypnotic dread over everything. It's the sound of wandering alone at 3 AM: every shadow feels alive, every whisper could be a threat, and the air hums with something just out of reach.

Ce n’est pas du remplissage instrumental sans âme. Non : "Nocturnals" est une histoire d’horreur semi-acoustique avec du groove, l’enfant tordu des pires cauchemars d’Opeth, de la tension atmosphérique de Steven Wilson et de la beauté glaciale de Storm Corrosion. Les guitares acoustiques s’entrelacent avec des batteries implacables et une basse profonde, tandis que les claviers distillent une angoisse presque hypnotique. C’est le son de la solitude à 3h du mat’ : chaque ombre respire, chaque murmure menace, et l’air vibre de quelque chose d’invisible.

Three tracks, Nightwalker, Lunar Caress, The Conjuring, each one a descent into something strange and beautiful and wrong. It's unnerving. It's abrasive. It's gorgeous. One minute you're lost in a melody that feels like salvation, the next you're swallowed by dissonance so cold it raises goosebumps. Honestly? It's the kind of record that doesn't just play, it lingers. Like a half-remembered nightmare you can't shake.
