Got this one spinning way too loud. Headphones biting, room half-dark.

Je l’ai mis en boucle beaucoup trop fort. Les écouteurs qui blessent, la pièce à moitié sombre.

FOR MY DEMONS just dropped Tristesse, a full-on concept album, and yeah… it’s heavy in the chest. Dedicated to Vincent van Gogh, of all souls. Makes sense though. Totally.

FOR MY DEMONS vient de sortir Tristesse, un album concept complet, et ouais… c’est lourd dans la poitrine. Dédié à Vincent van Gogh, entre toutes les âmes. Cela paraît logique. Complètement.

Seven tracks. No filler. This thing moves like a mind in fragments: beauty, torment, flashes of light, then straight back into the dark. Progressive dark metal, sure, but soaked in melancholy. Katatonia ghosts, Soen-like restraint, some Dream Theater brainwork sneaking in when you’re not looking. It breathes. It hurts a little. Good sign.

Sept morceaux. Pas de remplissage. Cette chose évolue comme un esprit en fragments : beauté, tourment, éclairs de lumière, puis directement replongé dans l’obscurité. Du métal sombre progressif, certes, mais imprégné de mélancolie. Des fantômes de Katatonia, une retenue à la Soen, un peu de virtuosité à la Dream Theater qui s’immisce quand on ne regarde pas. Ça respire. Ça fait un peu mal. Bon signe.

The single “The Other Side Of Heaven” lands right in the middle of that heaven/hell tension. Big emotional arc, slow burn, then boom! it opens up. There’s suffering here, but also that stubborn need to transcend, like painting your way out of the abyss. (yeah, I know, dramatic… but listen first).

Le single "The Other Side Of Heaven" s’inscrit pile au milieu de cette tension paradis/enfer. Un grand arc émotionnel, une lente montée, puis boum ! ça s’ouvre. Il y a de la souffrance ici, mais aussi ce besoin obstiné de transcender, comme peindre pour sortir de l’abîme. (ouais, je sais, dramatique… mais écoutez d’abord).

Watched the video twice. Didn’t plan to. Just happened.

J’ai regardé la vidéo deux fois. N’avais pas prévu. C’est juste arrivé.

Same with the earlier clips, “9 Weeks” and “Shades Of Past”: they all feel connected, like chapters torn from the same notebook. Rough edges included.

Idem pour les clips précédents, "9 Weeks" et "Shades Of Past" : ils semblent tous connectés, comme des chapitres arrachés au même carnet. Bords rugueux inclus.

This isn’t background metal.

Ce n’est pas du métal de fond.

This demands attention.

Cela exige de l’attention.

And maybe a quiet moment after.

Et peut-être un moment de silence ensuite.

 

 

Dive in. Don’t rush it.

Plongez-y. Ne précipitez rien.
