Walls buzzing. My ears complain, I ignore them. French symphonic metal can hit harder than people think. Trust me.

Les murs vibrent. Mes oreilles se plaignent, je les ignore. Le métal symphonique français peut frapper plus fort que prévu. Croyez-moi.

OÏKOUMEN just dropped “Reign of Idiocy”, and yeah, this one sticks. Female-fronted, orchestral, progressive, but not polite. Not shiny for the sake of shiny. There’s anger in there. Real one. You feel it in the gut before the brain catches up. Ok this riff… damn.

OÏKOUMEN vient de sortir "Reign of Idiocy", et ouais, celui-ci reste. Mené par une femme, orchestral, progressif, mais pas poli. Pas clinquant pour le plaisir. Il y a de la colère là-dedans. Vraie. On la sent au ventre avant que le cerveau comprenne. Ok ce riff… putain.

If you’re into Nightwish, Epica, Delain, Xandria, sure, you’ll get the reference points. But OÏKOUMEN lean more human, more raw under the layers. Big orchestras serving emotion, not the other way around. Sometimes dark. Always committed. No escape hatch.

Si vous aimez Nightwish, Epica, Delain, Xandria, ouais, vous comprendrez les points de référence. Mais OÏKOUMEN penche plus humain, plus brut sous les couches. De grandes orchestrations au service de l’émotion, pas l’inverse. Parfois sombre. Toujours engagé. Pas d’échappatoire.

The track deals with school bullying, told from the victim’s side. And it hurts. Laura Mazard’s vocals don’t float, they cut. Like a scream held too long, stained with tears. Her words hit while the riffs push forward and the orchestration swells, almost too much. Almost. (brief pause… yeah I’m still listening)

Le morceau traite du harcèlement scolaire, raconté du point de vue de la victime. Et ça fait mal. Les voix de Laura Mazard ne flottent pas, elles tranchent. Comme un cri retenu trop longtemps, teinté de larmes. Ses mots frappent tandis que les riffs poussent en avant et que l’orchestration enfle, presque trop. Presque. (bref silence… ouais, je continue à écouter)

This project started with Dystopia back in 2022, and now it feels sharper, more focused. Led by Élie Veux on guitars and composition, Laura on vocals/lyrics/artistic vision, Yaël Febvray on bass and synths. Recorded, mixed, mastered by Julien Prost. Clean sound, but not cold.

Ce projet a commencé avec Dystopia en 2022, et maintenant, ça semble plus tranchant, plus ciblé. Mené par Élie Veux à la guitare et à la composition, Laura aux voix/paroles/vision artistique, Yaël Febvray à la basse et aux synthés. Enregistré, mixé, masterisé par Julien Prost. Un son propre, mais pas froid.

The video was shot at Cité du Cinéma near Paris and it shows. Dark visuals, controlled chaos. Fits the song’s mood perfectly.

La vidéo a été tournée à la Cité du Cinéma près de Paris et ça se voit. Des images sombres, un chaos maîtrisé. Correspond parfaitement à l’humeur du morceau.
