MICHIGAN SOLO PROJECT BUILDS DOOM WITH ACTUAL ARCHITECTURE

Headphones on. Volume up. That opening track starts and you realize this isn't just another guy with a guitar and a laptop trying to sound heavy. Jake Worden. Jackson, Michigan. Multi-instrumentalist, composer, solo project. Started playing guitar at 12, early bands fell apart, went solo and never looked back. "Born into Black" just dropped and he's calling it Orchestral Doom Metal which sounds pretentious until you actually press play and realize... ok yeah, that's exactly what it is.
Casque sur les oreilles. Volume à fond. Le premier morceau commence et tu réalises que c’est pas juste un autre gars avec une guitare et un ordi qui essaie de sonner lourd. Jake Worden. Jackson, Michigan. Multi-instrumentiste, compositeur, projet solo. A commencé la guitare à 12 ans, ses premiers groupes ont capoté, il est passé en solo et n'a jamais regardé en arrière. « Born into Black » vient de sortir et il appelle ça de l’Orchestral Doom Metal, ce qui sonne prétentieux jusqu’à ce que tu appuies sur play et que tu réalises... ok ouais, c’est exactement ça.
Classical instrumentation woven into slow, melodic heaviness that doesn't rush anything. Metallica, Type O Negative, Gojira, Amon Amarth floating somewhere in the DNA but filtered through this orchestral lens that makes everything feel deliberate. Doom that breathes instead of just grinding for the sake of grinding. Recorded, mixed, mastered at Sonic Landscapes Recording Studios by Jimmy Shellberg. Une instrumentation classique tissée dans une lourdeur lente et mélodique qui ne précipite rien. Metallica, Type O Negative, Gojira, Amon Amarth flottent quelque part dans l’ADN mais filtrés à travers ce prisme orchestral qui rend chaque élément délibéré. Un Doom qui respire au lieu de juste broyer pour le plaisir de broyer. Enregistré, mixé et masterisé aux Sonic Landscapes Recording Studios par Jimmy Shellberg.
Production's thick without drowning the layers: every instrument sits where it should, the orchestral elements don't feel tacked on they're part of the structure from the ground up. Underground press already paying attention. Musicians talking about it. For a debut from a solo artist that's not nothing, that's momentum. If doom metal with actual composition behind it sounds like your thing, this one deserves the time.
La production est épaisse sans noyer les couches : chaque instrument est à sa place, les éléments orchestraux ne semblent pas simplement ajoutés, ils font partie de la structure dès la base. La presse underground y prête déjà attention. Les musiciens en parlent. Pour un premier album d’un artiste solo, ce n’est pas rien, c’est un vrai élan. Si le doom metal avec une réelle composition derrière est ton truc, celui-ci mérite qu’on s’y attarde.
