BULGARIAN SYMPHONIC METAL THAT FEELS LIKE WAKING UP IN A DIFFERENT CENTURY

The sun is hitting the screen so hard I can barely see what I’m typing, but this sound... it’s cutting through the morning haze. I’m late to the party, I know, this dropped back in October 2025, but man, discovering Elysian Fields on a bright March morning feels like waking up in a different century. Better late than never, right? Especially when the music builds a whole world around your headphones like this.
Le soleil tape si fort sur l’écran que je vois à peine ce que je tape, mais ce son… il transperce la brume matinale. Je sais, je suis en retard, c’est sorti en octobre 2025, mais putain, découvrir Elysian Fields par un lumineux matin de mars, c’est comme se réveiller dans un autre siècle. Mieux vaut tard que jamais, non ? Surtout quand la musique construit un monde entier autour de ton casque comme ça.
I’ll be honest, at first I wasn't sure if the mix of "metal meets baroque" would hold up without feeling like a museum piece. But the Bulgarians in Bendida really poured some soul into this via Psychosounds Music. It’s… well, it’s a journey. They aren't just layering synths and calling it "symphonic." We’re talking real violin, French horn, and even a Viola da Gamba. It’s dense. Almost overwhelming in spots, but in a way that makes your chest tighten when the choirs kick in.
Pour être honnête, au début je n’étais pas sûr que le mélange « metal baroque » tienne la route sans donner l’impression d’une pièce de musée. Mais les Bulgares de Bendida ont vraiment mis de l’âme là-dedans via Psychosounds Music. C’est… eh bien, c’est un voyage. Ils ne se contentent pas d’empiler des synthés en criant au « symphonique ». On parle de vrais violons, de cor d’harmonie, et même d’une viole de gambe. C’est dense. Presque étouffant par endroits, mais d’une manière qui te serre la poitrine quand les chœurs débarquent.
The atmosphere? It’s like walking through a fog where Slavic folklore meets sci-fi. There’s a track, "Fire and Ice," featuring Fabio Lione (yeah, the Fabio) and it’s exactly the kind of power move you’d expect, but the real soul of the album is in the weird, traditional instruments like the Bulgarian tambura. It gives the riffs this earthy, ancient grit that most symphonic bands lose in the studio. L’atmosphère ? C’est comme marcher dans un brouillard où le folklore slave rencontre la science‑fiction. Il y a un titre, « Fire and Ice », avec Fabio Lione (ouais, le Fabio), et c’est exactement le genre de move puissant auquel on s’attend, mais l’âme véritable de l’album réside dans ces instruments traditionnels bizarres, comme la tambura bulgare. Elle donne aux riffs ce grain terreux, ancestral, que la plupart des groupes symphoniques perdent en studio.
Actually, scratch that: it's not just "grit," it's history. I just realized "The Wheel of Time" is probably going to be stuck in my head for a week. The production is huge, very epic, very "nightmare in a cathedral" vibes. If you’re into music that feels like a widescreen movie for your ears, this is it. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it definitely polishes it until it shines.
En fait, laissez tomber : ce n’est pas seulement du « grain », c’est de l’histoire. Je réalise que « The Wheel of Time » va probablement me rester dans la tête pendant une semaine. La production est énorme, très épique, avec des vibes de « cauchemar dans une cathédrale ». Si vous aimez la musique qui fait office de film en Cinémascope pour vos oreilles, c’est ça. Il n’essaie pas de réinventer la roue, mais il la polit jusqu’à ce qu’elle brille.
Anyway, I’m rambling. It’s been out since late last year on CD and digital, but it still feels fresh. If you need to escape the real world for an hour, dive in.
Bref, je m’égare. C’est sorti depuis fin 2025 en CD et digital, mais ça reste frais. Si t’as besoin de t’évader du monde réel pendant une heure, plonge.
