My head feels like it’s been through a spin cycle this morning. I just got leveled by the new single from Italy’s Dust. Normally, I’d wait for the full album release on April 3rd to talk about it, but after spinning "The Reaping Of The Scythe," I think my neighbors deserve a fair warning: things are about to get loud.
J’ai l’impression que ma tête a passé un cycle d’essorage ce matin. Je viens d’être percuté par le nouveau single des Italiens de Dust. Normalement, j’attendrais la sortie complète de l’album le 3 avril pour en parler, mais après avoir tourné « The Reaping Of The Scythe », je pense que mes voisins méritent un avertissement : ça va chauffer.

This band isn't here to play nice. They’re operating on a modern extreme metal trajectory, but with a clarity and intent that just pins you to the wall. Their upcoming concept record, Thoughts Of A Falling Man, is shaping up to be a pretty grim journey between limbo and the void. On this track, the riffing is razor-sharp, and the drumming is locked in with surgical precision.

Ce groupe n’est pas là pour faire dans la dentelle. Ils évoluent dans une trajectoire extreme metal moderne, mais avec une clarté et une intention qui te clouent au mur. Leur futur album conceptuel, Thoughts Of A Falling Man, s’annonce comme un voyage plutôt sinistre entre les limbes et le vide. Sur ce morceau, le riffing est tranchant comme un rasoir, et la batterie est verrouillée avec une précision chirurgicale.
What really caught me off guard was Riccardo Pirozzi’s vocal performance. He flips from this almost eerie, controlled restraint to absolute visceral intensity in a heartbeat. It’s not just "screaming" for the sake of it; you can feel the urgency, the weight of life's choices, and this idea that judgment doesn't come from the outside, it comes from your own gut. The metaphor of the scythe harvesting what you’ve sown... it’s dark, it’s suffocating, and it feels terrifyingly real.
Ce qui m’a vraiment pris au dépourvu, c’est la performance vocale de Riccardo Pirozzi. Il passe d’une retenue presque étrange, contrôlée, à une intensité viscérale absolue en un battement de cœur. Ce n’est pas juste du « screaming » gratuit ; on sent l’urgence, le poids des choix de vie, et cette idée que le jugement ne vient pas de l’extérieur mais de tes propres tripes. La métaphore de la faux qui récolte ce que tu as semé… c’est sombre, étouffant, et terriblement réel.
Actually, scratch that: it doesn't just sound "real," it sounds inevitable. If you dig the massive scale of Parkway Drive or the technicality of Jinjer but you’re looking for a darker, more conceptual soul, you need to confront this track. It’s dense, it’s mature, and it doesn't negotiate for your attention. En fait, laissez tomber : ça ne sonne pas seulement « réel », ça sonne inévitable. Si vous aimez l’échelle massive de Parkway Drive ou la technicité de Jinjer mais que vous cherchez une âme plus sombre et conceptuelle, il faut que vous affrontiez ce morceau. C’est dense, mature, et ça ne négocie pas pour attirer votre attention.
Anyway, the album drops next month via Rockshots Records. Go pre-order it if you want to suffer along with the rest of us. It’s heavy.
