The sun is absolutely beaming out there today, hardly a cloud in sight, but I've spent my afternoon diving into the shadows anyway with the new track from Voidanth. This Oslo-based crew just dropped "Ephemeral Dream," the second single from their upcoming debut album Death Drive (out March 31st), and it's a killer soundtrack for when you finally head back inside to escape the heat.

Ce groupe d'Oslo vient de sortir « Ephemeral Dream », le deuxième single de leur premier album à venir Death Drive (prévu le 31 mars), et c'est une bande-son tueuse pour quand tu rentres enfin à l'intérieur pour échapper à la chaleur.

"Ephemeral Dream" lives in that fragile space between being wide awake and lost in an illusion. It's a track that tries to capture that exact moment where reality dissolves and emotion just takes over.

What stands out to me here is the contrast. You can tell they wanted to push the atmosphere deeper on this second single. It's introspective and transient, kind of like a dream you try to explain to someone the next morning but can't quite grasp. The blend of melancholic melodies with heavier, more grounded guitars creates a really solid sense of "drifting."

Ce qui ressort ici, c'est le contraste. On sent qu'ils voulaient pousser l'atmosphère plus loin sur ce deuxième single. C'est introspectif et éphémère, un peu comme un rêve que tu essaies d'expliquer à quelqu'un le lendemain matin mais que tu n'arrives pas tout à fait à saisir. Le mélange de mélodies mélancoliques avec des guitares plus lourdes et ancrées crée une sensation de « dérive » vraiment solide.

If I have one minor critique, it's that it's not exactly a "radio hook" kind of song. It's a slow burner that requires you to actually sit down and listen to the layers. But in a world of 15-second clips, I actually appreciate a band that asks for three minutes of your focus. It's dark, it's elegant, and it sets a high bar for the full album at the end of the month. Si j'ai une petite critique, c'est que ce n'est pas exactement le genre de chanson avec un « refrain radiophonique ». C'est un slow burner qui demande de vraiment s'asseoir et d'écouter les couches. Mais dans un monde de clips de 15 secondes, j'apprécie un groupe qui demande trois minutes de concentration. C'est sombre, élégant, et ça place la barre haut pour l'album complet à la fin du mois.
