The first few seconds of "Harrowing Silence" feel like a physical weight pressing down on your chest. There’s no warm-up, no atmospheric intro: just a sudden, violent plunge into cold, nihilistic fury. I actually had to pause for a second to make sure my speakers weren't about to blow... okay, wait... I didn't just pause, I turned the volume up because that dissonance is addictive.

Pas d'échauffement, pas d'intro atmosphérique : juste une plongée soudaine et violente dans une froide fureur nihiliste. J'ai dû faire une pause pour vérifier que mes enceintes n'allaient pas exploser… enfin, non… je n'ai pas fait une pause, j'ai monté le volume parce que cette dissonance est addictive.

Now, here is the crazy part: laCasta have been quiet for a while, but this return feels like they’ve spent that time sharpening every single sonic blade they own. Hailing from Puglia, Italy, this four-piece just announced their new album Olibanvm (dropping late Spring 2026 via Argonauta Records), and if "Harrowing Silence" is the benchmark, we are in for a total blackout.

Le truc de ouf : laCasta était silencieux depuis un moment, mais ce retour donne l'impression qu'ils ont passé ce temps à aiguiser chaque lame sonore qu'ils possèdent. Originaires des Pouilles, en Italie, ce quatuor vient d'annoncer son nouvel album Olibanvm (sortie fin printemps 2026 chez Argonauta Records), et si « Harrowing Silence » est la référence, on va droit vers un blackout total.

The sound is thick, a suffocating blend where Crust Hardcore urgency slams head-first into freezing Black Metal orthodoxy. I was halfway through a message when the hammered breaks kicked in around the middle of the track, and I just... stopped. My phone stayed face-down on the desk for the rest of the song. It’s rare to hear a band balance that raw, crusty anger with the kind of dissonant atmosphere you’d expect from names like Wiegedood or Mgła.

Le son est épais, un mélange suffocant où l'urgence du Crust Hardcore se heurte de plein fouet à l'orthodoxie glaciale du Black Metal. J'étais en train d'écrire un message quand les breaks martelés ont démarré vers le milieu du morceau, et je me suis juste… arrêté. Mon téléphone est resté face contre le bureau pour le reste de la chanson. C'est rare d'entendre un groupe équilibrer cette colère crusteuse et brute avec l'atmosphère dissonante qu'on attend de noms comme Wiegedood ou Mgła.

Actually... no, "anger" isn't the right word. It’s more like ritualistic annihilation. En fait… non, « colère » n'est pas le bon mot. C'est plutôt une annihilation rituelle.

I actually felt my pulse sync up with those hammering breaks ; it’s that kind of track. The production is huge, monstrous even, capturing that 'poisonous incense' vibe the band talked about. It honestly feels like standing in front of a profaned altar while the walls start to vibrate from the sheer dissonance.

J'ai vraiment senti mon pouls se synchroniser avec ces breaks martelés ; c'est ce genre de morceau. La production est énorme, monstrueuse même, capturant cette vibe d'« encens empoisonné » dont le groupe parlait. On a vraiment l'impression de se tenir devant un autel profané pendant que les murs vibrent sous la pure dissonance.

If you’re a fan of Dark Funeral’s speed or the sheer, oppressive weight of Marduk, this is going to hit a nerve immediately. There is no compromise here, and honestly, no redemption either. Just visceral, hysterical violence that shows exactly why laCasta are pillars of the extreme underground.

Si vous êtes fan de la vitesse de Dark Funeral ou du poids oppressant de Marduk, ça va toucher un nerf immédiatement. Pas de compromis ici, et honnêtement, pas de rédemption non plus. Juste de la violence viscérale et hystérique qui montre exactement pourquoi laCasta sont des piliers de l'underground extrême.
