CINEMATIC METAL FORGED IN THE RED REALM

Some records are written in a few weeks of inspiration. Others are forged over four years, shaped by a reality that you can't simply edit out of the mix. For the Ukrainian project ERSEDU, the upcoming EP GORE (dropping May 19, 2026) isn't just a collection of songs; it's a direct response to the world they're living in.
Certains disques s'écrivent en quelques semaines d'inspiration. D'autres se forgent sur quatre ans, façonnés par une réalité qu'on ne peut pas simplement supprimer du mix. Pour le projet ukrainien ERSEDU, le prochain EP GORE (sortie le 19 mai 2026) n'est pas qu'une collection de chansons ; c'est une réponse directe au monde dans lequel ils vivent.
When you hear that a release took four years to manifest, you usually expect something over‑complicated. But here, that time seems to have been used to strip away the fluff. The EP is the first chapter of a series dedicated to color, and they've started with the most intense one possible: Red.
Quand on apprend qu'une sortie a mis quatre ans à se concrétiser, on s'attend généralement à quelque chose de trop complexe. Mais ici, ce temps semble avoir été utilisé pour éliminer le superflu. L'EP est le premier chapitre d'une série dédiée à la couleur, et ils ont commencé par la plus intense possible : le rouge.
It's not just "Red" as an aesthetic choice: it's blood, death, sacrifice, passion, and survival. You can feel that weight in the way the tracks are built. Speaking of which, the acronym G.O.R.E. (God of War, Offering, Reapsouls, Eros) is a clever hook, but the music itself is what hits. This isn't just another symphonic metal project trying to sound "epic." They've clearly spent time studying film composers like Howard Shore and Jerry Goldsmith, blending that cinematic, narrative-driven tension with the sheer brutality of death metal.
Ce n'est pas seulement le « rouge » comme choix esthétique : c'est le sang, la mort, le sacrifice, la passion et la survie. On sent ce poids dans la construction des morceaux. D'ailleurs, l'acronyme G.O.R.E. (God of War, Offering, Reapsouls, Eros) est astucieux, mais c'est la musique elle‑même qui frappe. Ce n'est pas un énième projet metal symphonique qui essaie de sonner « épique ». Ils ont visiblement étudié les compositeurs de films comme Howard Shore et Jerry Goldsmith, mêlant cette tension cinématographique et narrative à la pure brutalité du death metal.
They didn't skimp on the production, either. By taking the record to Fascination Street Studios (the same minds behind Opeth and Amon Amarth), they've ensured the orchestral swells and the crushing metal riffs actually sit together without turning into a muddy mess.
Ils n'ont pas lésiné sur la production non plus. En emmenant le disque aux Fascination Street Studios (les mêmes cerveaux derrière Opeth et Amon Amarth), ils ont fait en sorte que les montées orchestrales et les riffs metal écrasants cohabitent sans devenir un brouillard confus.
What I find most interesting, though, is the effort they've put into the "world-building." They've produced a visual artbook to go with the EP, featuring a mascot that represents a kind of dark Mother Nature. It feels like they are trying to reclaim their own reality through mythology, which, given the context of what's happening in Ukraine, makes the intensity of the music feel earned rather than forced.
Ce que je trouve le plus intéressant, cependant, c'est l'effort qu'ils ont fourni pour la « construction d'un monde ». Ils ont produit un artbook visuel pour accompagner l'EP, avec une mascotte qui représente une sorte de sombre Mère Nature. On dirait qu'ils essaient de se réapproprier leur propre réalité à travers la mythologie, ce qui, compte tenu du contexte en Ukraine, rend l'intensité de la musique légitime plutôt que forcée.
If you're tired of symphonic metal that sounds like a video game soundtrack and want something that feels like it has a pulse, and maybe a few scars, this is worth a spin. Eros and Offering are already out, and they serve as a solid warning for how heavy the full EP is going to be. Si vous en avez marre du metal symphonique qui ressemble à une bande‑son de jeu vidéo et que vous voulez quelque chose qui a un pouls, et peut‑être quelques cicatrices, cela mérite une écoute. Eros et Offering sont déjà sortis, et ils servent d'avertissement solide sur la lourdeur de l'EP complet.
