Duo français. Un seul gars fait tout sauf la batterie. Loïc Malassagne au chant, à la basse, à la guitare, aux claviers. Jim D derrière les fûts. Auto‑produit. Le nouveau single « Spreading The Venom » sort le 22 mai.

Heavy/doom/progressive/gothic. That's four genres mashed together. But somehow it doesn't feel overstuffed.

The track leans into that slow-burning intensity. Shadowed melody. Lots of weight. You hear the Black Sabbath doom DNA, the Paradise Lost gloom, maybe a little Type O Negative in the atmosphere. Sanctuary too? I guess. Not sure I'd go that far but okay.

Le morceau mise sur cette intensité à combustion lente. Mélodie ombragée. Beaucoup de poids. On entend l'ADN doom de Black Sabbath, la morosité de Paradise Lost, peut‑être un peu de Type O Negative dans l'atmosphère. Sanctuary aussi ? Peut‑être. Pas sûr d'aller jusque‑là, mais bon.

What strikes me is how compact they sound for a two-piece. Loïc handling bass, guitar, keys, vocals: that's a lot of plates spinning. But the production doesn't feel thin. Jim D's drumming holds it down.

Ce qui me frappe, c'est la compacité du son pour un duo. Loïc s'occupe de la basse, de la guitare, des claviers, du chant : il a beaucoup de patins en l'air. Mais la production ne semble pas fragile. La batterie de Jim D tient tout.

"Spreading The Venom" is taken from an upcoming album currently in preparation. No title yet, no date. Fine. They've got a previous single "Foreshadowed" out now if you want to dig deeper.

I have a small complaint. The song title is "Spreading The Venom" but the tempo is more like... dripping the venom. Slow. Deliberate. That's not a bad thing. Just don't expect a thrash attack.

J'ai une petite critique. Le titre du morceau est « Spreading The Venom » (Répandre le venin), mais le tempo est plutôt… goutte à goutte. Lent. Délibéré. Ce n'est pas une mauvaise chose. N'attendez juste pas une attaque thrash.
