Murdery aren't here to make friends or win a beauty contest. The new single 'Killing Grandma' is a blunt instrument, plain and simple. After 2023's Bloodshed, I expected them to maybe refine the edges, but they've done the opposite. They've gone backwards into the mud, stripping away the polish until all that's left is a raw, groovy death metal pulse that feels like it was tracked in a humid basement in the middle of Spain.

Murdery n'est pas là pour se faire des amis ou gagner un concours de beauté. Le nouveau single 'Killing Grandma' est un instrument contondant, sans fioritures. Après Bloodshed en 2023, je m'attendais à ce qu'ils affinent leurs angles, mais ils ont fait l'inverse. Ils ont reculé dans la boue, ont éliminé le polish jusqu'à ce qu'il ne reste qu'un pouls de death metal brut et groovy, enregistré dans un sous‑sol humide au fin fond de l'Espagne.

It's a statement piece, mostly because it's so damn direct. It's got that old-school, Swedish-style buzzsaw grit ; think Dismember or Bloodbath, but with a modern groove that's clearly built for the "Spring Annihilation" tour they're currently tearing through in Poland. You can tell this was written for the stage; it's got that specific physical weight that makes you want to shove the person next to you in a crowded club. No over-thinking, just a relentless, face-first dive into the underground.

C'est un morceau qui a du sens, surtout parce qu'il est sacrément direct. Il a ce grain rugueux à la scie suédoise old‑school, pensez à Dismember ou Bloodbath, mais avec un groove moderne clairement conçu pour la tournée « Spring Annihilation » qu'ils sont en train de déchirer en Pologne. On sent que ça a été écrit pour la scène ; il a ce poids physique qui donne envie de bousculer son voisin dans un club bondé. Pas de prise de tête, juste une plongée implacable et frontale dans l'underground.

I'll be honest: with a title like 'Killing Grandma', you know exactly what you're getting before you even hit play. It's a bit of a shock to the system if you were expecting something subtle, but that's the point. It's aggressive, it's ugly, and it sounds like the band is finally comfortable just being loud and obnoxious. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel, it's just trying to run you over with it.

Je vais être honnête : avec un titre comme 'Killing Grandma', on sait exactement ce qu'on va avoir avant même d'appuyer sur play. C'est un choc si vous attendiez quelque chose de subtil, mais c'est le but. C'est agressif, c'est moche, et on sent que le groupe est enfin à l'aise avec le fait d'être bruyant et provocateur. Il n'essaie pas de réinventer la roue, il essaie juste de vous écraser avec.
