Revolting Rogga must not sleep. Seriously, Supernatural Anthems is the tenth full-length from this Swedish machine since 2007, and it comes out June 4th on Xtreem Music. CD, digital, the usual. I'll admit I threw on "Undead Wife, Happy Life" first just because the title is hilarious. It's dumb, but the track itself is just heavy, disgusting mid-tempo thudding.

Rogga de Revolting ne doit jamais dormir. Sérieusement, Supernatural Anthems est le dixième album de cette machine suédoise depuis 2007, et il sort le 4 juin chez Xtreem Music. CD, digital, l'habituel. J'avoue avoir lancé « Undead Wife, Happy Life » en premier juste parce que le titre est hilarant. C'est stupide, mais le morceau lui-même est un martèlement lourd et dégoûtant à tempo moyen.

The whole record has this specific, physical weight to it. Mutated Martin's drums don't do anything fancy, they just sort of stomp on your chest while Grotesque Tobias grinds away on the bass. It feels like being dragged through wet gravel. I love that old-school Swedish buzzsaw guitar tone, but by track five, "Those Who Never Lived," everything starts blending together into one giant, muddy wall of sound. My ears actually got tired. It's a lot.

Tout l'album a ce poids physique spécifique. La batterie de Mutated Martin ne fait rien d'extraordinaire, elle piétine juste votre poitrine pendant que Grotesque Tobias gratte à la basse. On a l'impression d'être traîné dans du gravier humide. J'adore ce son de guitare suédoise old‑school, mais dès le cinquième morceau, « Those Who Never Lived », tout commence à se fondre en un seul mur de son boueux et géant. Mes oreilles ont réellement fatigué. C'est beaucoup.

They've been doing this same horror-soaked thing forever, back through their records on FDA Rekotz and Transcending Obscurity, and honestly, Born to Be Dead from a couple years ago might have had better individual hooks. This one is more like a relentless pile-driver. Rogga and Billy started this project to make no-frills death metal, and that's exactly what you get on "Upon the Chopping Block." No filler, just pure dirt. It's completely exhausting, but that's probably the point.

Ils font la même chose imprégnée d'horreur depuis toujours, à travers leurs albums chez FDA Rekotz et Transcending Obscurity, et honnêtement, Born to Be Dead d'il y a quelques années avait peut-être de meilleurs refrains individuels. Celui‑ci est plutôt un marteau-piqueur implacable. Rogga et Billy ont lancé ce projet pour faire du death metal sans fioritures, et c'est exactement ce qu'on obtient avec « Upon the Chopping Block ». Pas de remplissage, juste de la pure crasse. C'est complètement épuisant, mais c'est probablement le but.
