TORCHIA'S NEW ONE? DARK, DRAMATIC, KINDA FUN ACTUALLY

I'll be honest: I wasn't sure about these guys before. Thrashy melodic death with gothic horror schtick? Could go either way. But this one… hmm. It works more than it doesn't.
Je vais être honnête : je n'étais pas convaincu par ces gars avant. Du death mélodique thrashy avec un côté horreur gothique ? Ça pouvait être génial ou nul. Mais celui-ci… hmm. Ça fonctionne plus que ça ne rate.
They've got that blackened melodeath thing going, plus orchestral bits, plus this whole 19th-century cursed universe vibe with occult rituals and supernatural nonsense. It's a lot. Maybe too much. But then "Hellmouth" kicks in and you forget to roll your eyes.
Ils ont ce truc blackened melodeath, plus des passages orchestraux, plus toute cette ambiance d'univers maudit du 19e siècle avec rites occultes et absurdités surnaturelles. C'est beaucoup. Peut-être trop. Mais ensuite « Hellmouth » démarre et on oublie de lever les yeux au ciel.
The production? Janne Saksa mixed it, Dan Swanö mastered it. Sounds clean but still has some grit. Not overly polished, thank god.

Tracks like "The Tiamat Machine" and "Sanguine Masquerade" swing between triumphant leads and dark orchestral passages. Then "Black Cat" and "Stygian Waters" go back to rawer stuff. Keeps you guessing.
Des morceaux comme « The Tiamat Machine » et « Sanguine Masquerade » balancent entre lignes mélodiques triomphantes et passages orchestraux sombres. Puis « Black Cat » et « Stygian Waters » reviennent à des trucs plus bruts. Ça vous tient en haleine.
I keep coming back to "Die Amour" for some reason. Not sure why. It just sits there in my head.

The band says they tried to balance memorable songwriting with technical aggression. Yeah, I buy that. They're not breaking any wheels here, Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Bodom comparisons are fair, but they do it with enough conviction.
Le groupe dit avoir essayé d'équilibrer l'écriture mémorable avec l'agression technique. Oui, je l'achète. Ils ne réinventent pas la roue, les comparaisons avec Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Bodom sont justes, mais ils le font avec assez de conviction.
European tour starts May 8th in Helsinki. They're supporting Whispered on part of it. Whatever. The album's the thing.

Listen. It's dramatic, it's over-the-top, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
