Portuguese thrashers Viledög have finally put out their debut EP "Appetites" through Mosher Records. The Porto-based quartet is pushing the release with a video for the title track, and honestly, it's got a weirdly funny backstory. Apparently, the video clip was recorded almost a year ago. The band even points out that their hair is longer nowadays, which is a hilarious thing to worry about when you're trying to melt faces.

It's a messy, bruising chunk of thrash that doesn't care about being pretty or over-produced. The production lets the grit breathe, which is exactly how this stuff should sound anyway. Not sure why, but the old video footage actually gives the song a strangely authentic, unpolished vibe that works in its favor.

Musicalement, ils suivent le mouvement. Les riffs sont assez lourds pour secouer la poussière de vos enceintes. C'est sauvage mais délibéré, exactement comme ils l'ont dit. C'est un morceau de thrash brouillon et brutal qui se moque d'être joli ou surproduit. La production laisse respirer le grain, ce qui est exactement comme ça devrait sonner. Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais la vieille vidéo donne à la chanson une ambiance étrangement authentique et brute qui joue en sa faveur.
