Colombia's WARTHRASH don't mess around. No Light Shall Remain hits like a boot to the ribs: fast, filthy, and frustratingly catchy. Not sure if it's the Medellín heat or just two decades of simmering rage, but this thing sticks.

Les Colombiens de WARTHRASH ne rigolent pas. No Light Shall Remain frappe comme un coup de botte dans les côtes : rapide, sale, et frustrant. Je ne sais pas si c'est la chaleur de Medellín ou deux décennies de rage couvant, mais ce truc reste en tête.

They've shed some thrash skin since 2005, leaning harder into that old-school death metal rot. Think ENTOMBED's buzzsaw guitars meeting MORBID ANGEL's chaos, but with a Latin American grit you don't hear enough. "Culebras Sin Honor" opens with a riff that just won't quit: grunted vocals, blast beats that actually breathe, not just spam. Then "Oscura Condena" doubles down. Relentless? Yeah. Exhausting? Maybe. But in a good way.

Depuis 2005, ils ont perdu leur peau thrash pour plonger dans la pourriture du death metal old‑school. Imaginez les guitares scie d'ENTOMBED rencontrant le chaos de MORBID ANGEL, mais avec un grain latino-américain trop rare. « Culebras Sin Honor » s'ouvre sur un riff qui ne lâche rien : chant guttural, blast beats qui respirent vraiment, pas juste du bourrinage. Puis « Oscura Condena » enfonce le clou. Implacable ? Ouais. Épuisant ? Peut-être. Mais dans le bon sens.

Wait. "Hand of Doom" has this weird, almost majestic gallop. Infernal Majesty vibes? Sure, why not. It shouldn't work with the rest of the album, but it does. Not sure why.

Attendez. « Hand of Doom » a ce galop étrange, presque majestueux. Des vibes d'Infernal Majesty ? Pourquoi pas. Ça ne devrait pas coller avec le reste de l'album, mais ça marche. Aucune idée pourquoi.

Production's raw but not muddy. You hear every pick scrape, every snare hit. Good. Too many bands polish the life out of this stuff. Area 51 Studios did right by them.

La production est brute mais pas brouillonne. On entend chaque grattement de pick, chaque caisse claire. Tant mieux. Trop de groupes polissent toute vie. Area 51 Studios a bien fait le boulot.

Merciless mentions adding a second guitar. You can tell. The layers aren't flashy, just... thicker. Meaner. The whole record feels like a unit, not a solo project. That matters.

Ils mentionnent l'ajout d'une seconde guitare. Ça s'entend. Les couches ne sont pas tape-à-l'œil, juste… plus épaisses. Plus méchantes. Tout l'album semble cohérent, pas un projet solo. Ça compte.

Lyrics? Power, decay, confrontation. No grand concept. Just anger with a point. Sometimes that's enough.

Les paroles ? Pouvoir, décadence, confrontation. Pas de grand concept. Juste une colère qui a du sens. Parfois, ça suffit.

Is it revolutionary? Nah. But it's honest. And right now, that's rarer than technical wizardry.

Est-ce révolutionnaire ? Non. Mais c'est honnête. Et en ce moment, c'est plus rare que la virtuosité technique.
