REPULSION EP – RAW SWEDISH THRASH WITH PUNK GRIME
Malmö's Dead Sleep just dropped Repulsion and honestly, the whole thing is just a massive middle finger to how clean modern thrash has become. I'm so sick of these new bands sounding like they perfectly grid-aligned every single drum hit on a laptop until all the blood is gone.
Dead Sleep de Malmö vient de sortir Repulsion et honnêtement, tout ça n'est qu'un énorme doigt d'honneur à la propreté du thrash moderne. J'en ai tellement marre de ces nouveaux groupes qui sonnent comme s'ils avaient parfaitement aligné chaque frappe de batterie sur un ordinateur jusqu'à ce que tout le sang ait disparu.
"Leech from Čachtice" comes on and it's just... nickel. It sounds like a band actually sweating in a cramped rehearsal room with blown-out amps. You can hear the punk grime all over the thrash foundation. The guitars don't even bother trying to show off with stupidly fast technical solos or clinical scales, thank god. They just lock into this heavy, ugly groove and ride it into the dirt.
« Leech from Čachtice » démarre et c'est juste... nickel. On dirait un groupe qui transpire vraiment dans une salle de répétition exiguë avec des amplis explosés. On entend la crasse punk sur toute la base thrash. Les guitares ne prennent même pas la peine de frimer avec des solos techniques ridiculement rapides ou des gammes cliniques, dieu merci. Elles se contentent de s'enfermer dans ce groove lourd et moche et de le conduire jusqu'au bout.
They say it's a concept about Elizabeth Báthory, but who cares. The lyrics are fine, whatever, but the real star here is just how unpolished the mix is. It's loud, it's raw, it's slightly uneven, and it actually has some teeth. It has that old-school Accept vibe but dragged through a ditch of low-end death metal.
Ils disent que c'est un concept sur Elizabeth Báthory, mais on s'en fiche. Les paroles sont correctes, peu importe, mais la vraie star ici, c'est à quel point le mix est brut. C'est fort, cru, légèrement irrégulier, et ça a des dents. Il y a cette vibe old-school d'Accept, mais traînée dans un fossé de death metal grave.
It just makes you want to drink a cheap beer and see how much damage these tracks do to a tiny, packed club stage. Total neck-wrecker. Skip the corporate playlists. Go buy the actual on Bandcamp.
