Papy Jeff Metal's Favorite of the Day: Mandy Manala

THAT NEW MANDY MANALA ALBUM IS OUT

We've been messing around with Something Wicked for the last couple of days, the new sophomore record from Finland's Mandy Manala. It dropped on May 29th through Argonauta Records, and honestly, the whole room has been going back and forth on it. There's a weird mix of stoner rock weight and occult vibe going on here that immediately makes you think of bands like Lucifer or Ghost, but with a strange, older Fleetwood Mac undercurrent trying to break through the fuzz.

Nous traînons avec Something Wicked depuis quelques jours, le deuxième album des Finlandais de Mandy Manala. Il est sorti le 29 mai via Argonauta Records, et honnêtement, toute la pièce est partagée. Il y a un étrange mélange de lourdeur stoner et d'ambiance occulte qui fait immédiatement penser à Lucifer ou Ghost, mais avec un courant sous-jacent bizarre de Fleetwood Mac qui tente de percer le fuzz.

The guitar riffs have this heavy, low-end drag to them, especially on a couple of the early tracks like "Bloodred Chapel of Sin" and "Nocturnal Bites." Christa Nedergård's vocals are definitely the thing that anchors it all, she has this clear, slightly detached delivery that cuts right through the muddy, distorted basslines.

Les riffs de guitare ont cette traînée lourde et grave, surtout sur quelques morceaux du début comme « Bloodred Chapel of Sin » et « Nocturnal Bites ». La voix de Christa Nedergård est vraiment ce qui ancre tout, elle a cette clarté détachée qui traverse les lignes de basse boueuses et saturées.
