Built around singer and guitarist Jeff Hime, the band was born from a simple frustration: a desire to bring back some danger and intensity to a local scene that felt a little too comfortable. Alongside co‑guitarist Todd Farrell Jr., bassist Bingham Barnes and drummer Chris Fox, Hime has turned that feeling into Speed Demon, a record that embraces classic heavy metal and hard rock without overthinking it.

The first thing I noticed was the energy. Electric Python don't hide their influences, and honestly, they don't need to. You can hear the raw speed of Motörhead, the groove of AC/DC and the twin‑guitar spirit of Iron Maiden running through the songs. But instead of sounding like a tribute band trying to recreate the past, they bring their own personality into the mix. The riffs are huge, the solos refuse to stay in the background, and the whole record feels like a band playing with the volume already pushed too far.
La première chose que j'ai remarquée, c'est l'énergie. Electric Python ne cache pas ses influences, et honnêtement, ils n'en ont pas besoin. On peut entendre la vitesse brute de Motörhead, le groove d'AC/DC et l'esprit twin‑guitar d'Iron Maiden parcourir les chansons. Mais au lieu de ressembler à un tribute band essayant de recréer le passé, ils apportent leur propre personnalité. Les riffs sont énormes, les solos refusent de rester en arrière‑plan, et tout l'album donne l'impression d'un groupe qui joue avec le volume déjà poussé trop loin.
The single "Last Chance" is probably the perfect introduction to what Electric Python are about. The track has that immediate heavy rock punch that makes you want to turn the volume up before the first chorus even arrives. The guitars trade blows, the rhythm section keeps everything moving with a powerful drive, and Jeff Hime's vocals give the song exactly the rough edge it needs.

The accompanying video pushes that attitude even further, with denim, classic metal imagery, small‑club energy and even a bizarre dive‑bar pinball battle with the devil himself. And honestly, that is exactly what makes it work.

What I appreciate most about Speed Demon is that Electric Python never tries to make things more complicated than necessary. In an era where many bands chase endless layers of production or technical displays, these guys focus on the basics that built heavy rock in the first place: memorable riffs, strong melodies and a little bit of danger.
Ce que j'apprécie le plus dans Speed Demon, c'est qu'Electric Python n'essaie jamais de rendre les choses plus compliquées que nécessaire. À une époque où beaucoup de groupes recherchent des couches de production sans fin ou des démonstrations techniques, ces gars se concentrent sur les bases qui ont construit le heavy rock : des riffs mémorables, des mélodies fortes et un peu de danger.
It's not trying to change the history of heavy metal. It doesn't need to. Speed Demon is simply a reminder that sometimes the best formula is still a killer riff, a loud amplifier and a band that actually looks like it's having fun. If you miss the days when heavy rock was built around riffs, attitude and a little bit of danger, Speed Demon deserves your attention.
Il n'essaie pas de changer l'histoire du heavy metal. Il n'en a pas besoin. Speed Demon est simplement un rappel que parfois la meilleure formule reste un riff tueur, un ampli bruyant et un groupe qui a vraiment l'air de s'amuser. Si les jours où le heavy rock était construit autour des riffs, de l'attitude et d'un peu de danger vous manquent, Speed Demon mérite votre attention.
