Mais après quelques morceaux, j'ai cessé de prêter attention à la façon dont l'album avait été capturé, car après un moment, cela n'avait plus d'importance. Le setup live donne à l'ensemble une vibe heavy, sale et organique que la plupart des productions de death metal moderne perdent complètement.
Somewhere around the middle of "Putrid Stench Of The Living Membrane," I realized I hadn't written down a single note for several minutes. I was too busy turning the volume up and enjoying those massive mid‑tempo riffs to care about analyzing the mix. Rotten know exactly what they want to do: they stick to the absolute essentials. Instead of chasing technical showmanship or rushing at full speed, they lean into slow‑burning, morbid grooves reminiscent of early Asphyx, Grave, or Obituary, letting the heaviness sink in properly.

J'étais trop occupé à monter le volume et à profiter de ces riffs mid‑tempo massifs pour me soucier d'analyser le mix. Rotten sait exactement ce qu'il veut faire : ils s'en tiennent à l'essentiel. Au lieu de courir après la virtuosité technique ou la vitesse, ils s'appuient sur des grooves lents et morbides rappelant les premiers Asphyx, Grave ou Obituary, laissant la lourdeur s'installer correctement.
The band isn't afraid to embrace the absurd, gross side of old‑school death metal either, as proved by track titles like "Viscous Entities Ejaculating In Matrix Fluid" or the epic closing "...And The Skinner Is Born In The Emptiness Of Orion's Spiral Arm."

In the end, that's probably what I enjoyed most about this release. It never feels like Rotten are trying to impress anyone or calculate their appeal. They're just making the kind of filthy death metal they obviously believe in, and sometimes, that's all a great record really needs.
Au final, c'est probablement ce que j'ai le plus apprécié dans cette sortie. On n'a jamais l'impression que Rotten essaie d'impressionner qui que ce soit ou de calculer son attrait. Ils font simplement le genre de death metal sale auquel ils croient visiblement, et parfois, c'est tout ce dont un grand album a vraiment besoin.
