ITALIAN POWER CORE UNIT DELIVERS A TIGHT, ENERGETIC SINGLE AHEAD OF THEIR UPCOMING ALBUM
Italian "Power Core" outfit Nekomata have released their new single "Functional Beauty," their first preview of the upcoming album Third Impact. Combining metalcore breakdowns, modern djenty rhythms, and soaring choruses can easily make a track feel over‑engineered, and I had that exact hesitation before hitting play. But "Functional Beauty" avoids sounding like a cut‑and‑paste job. Instead of burying the track under wall‑to‑wall electronics, the band lets a heavy, galloping rhythm section carry the momentum, giving Andrea Olivieri's soaring chorus plenty of room to shine.

I didn't expect the transition into the main hook to land as cleanly as it does, but the track stays focused and avoids getting bogged down in unnecessary technical flexing. It's a tight, energetic single, and it leaves me curious about what Third Impact will sound like.
