Portuguese technical thrash outfit Shadowmare return with their third full‑length Transfiguration, and you can immediately tell this album was forged in a period of heavy turbulence. After undergoing major line‑up shifts and slimming down to a core four‑piece, the band sounds leaner, faster, and far more focused than before.

Après avoir subi des changements majeurs de line‑up et s'être réduit à un quatuor, le groupe sonne plus affûté, plus rapide et bien plus concentré qu'avant.

Instead of hiding the scars of those changes, the music embraces them directly. There's a newfound urgency in the songwriting: the tracks are shorter, tighter, and cut straight to the bone. They haven't lost their technical edge, but the intricate riffing no longer feels like a showcase of skill. It works more like a weapon, pushing each track forward with raw momentum. Halfway through "Sacrificar Para Ganhar", I realized the album wasn't trying to impress me with complexity anymore; it was simply trying to hit as hard as possible. The lyrics deal openly with survival, sacrifice, and rebuilding from the ground up, and that fight bleeds right into the riffs. The technical precision stops being just technical and starts feeling fierce, almost defiant.
Au lieu de cacher les cicatrices de ces changements, la musique les embrasse directement. Il y a une urgence nouvelle dans l'écriture : les morceaux sont plus courts, plus serrés, et vont droit à l'essentiel. Ils n'ont pas perdu leur côté technique, mais le riffing complexe ne ressemble plus à une démonstration de compétence. À la moitié de « Sacrificar Para Ganhar », j'ai réalisé que l'album n'essayait plus de m'impressionner par sa complexité ; il essayait simplement de frapper aussi fort que possible. Les paroles traitent ouvertement de survie, de sacrifice et de reconstruction à partir de zéro, et ce combat se retrouve dans les riffs. La précision technique cesse d'être juste technique et devient féroce, presque provocante.
