Album Spotlight / Review: HOT HELL ROOM - "Blood Red Sand"
FRENCH HEAVY/HARD ROCK OUTFIT RETURNS WITH A MELODY‑FIRST FIFTH ALBUM
Active for over fifteen years in the Île‑de‑France region, French heavy/hard rock outfit Hot Hell RooM released their fifth studio album Blood Red Sand on October 2, 2026, via Inouïe Distribution. Rooted in classic heavy metal and hard rock, Blood Red Sand brings to mind Black Sabbath, Dokken, and Queensrÿche, while adopting a somewhat more open, melody‑first approach compared to their darker earlier work. Vocalist/guitarist Loïc Malassagne and bassist Alan Raoul are joined on this record by guitarist Pierre Trimaitre and drummer Ludovic Rouix.
"Blood Red Sand"
Musically, the album moves from the aggressive, fast‑paced riffing of opener "Soylent Green" into the heavy, mid‑tempo groove of the title track. The guitars don't dominate every track in the same way; on "Eighties," layered synth hooks and polished US‑style hard rock melodies bring a different feel to the album. Produced and mixed near Paris by Andrew Guillotin, with mastering by Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles, the album has a punchy rhythm section and leaves ample room for Malassagne’s raspy, higher‑register vocals. Highlighted by French webzine Soil Chronicles with an 8/10 rating, Blood Red Sand is a straightforward, well‑produced hard rock record that leans heavily into memorable hooks and solid guitar work.
